YOU SCREAM
WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM.
Well, I'm actually SCREAMING FOR WINK, and you will be too once you ENTER THE GIVEAWAY for Wink!
An all natural, allergen free, frozen dessert that satisfies all my ice cream desires while keeping my irate intestines in good spirits, no matter how many spoonfuls or pints I consume.
I have been an ice cream lover, for as long as I can remember. There's just something about that cold, creamy, sweet consistency that I simply cannot get enough of.
Growing up, instead of bringing in cupcakes to celebrate my birthday, like most kids, I would bring in Dixie Cup Ice Cream for all of my classmates, in the middle of December. I even had a birthday party AT an ice cream parlor when I turned seven...so, my love for ice cream has been a long while in the making and fostered by my family's tradition of going out for ice cream on an almost weekly basis over the years.
A diagnosis of Celiac Disease took away from me my favorite flavor: Cake Batter, and then my new found lactose intolerance seemed to take ice cream off the table for me all together, until I found non-dairy alternatives....Except the severity of my IBS took away my fondness for the frozen dairy free delights I had found, because despite their gluten free/dairy free status, most ice cream alternatives quite simply didn't agree with me and my irate intestines. The laundry list of ingredients paired with the high sugar and fat content kept me from enjoying a serving without some serious repercussions afterwards. SO, I sadly retired my ice cream spoon, in saving of my sensitive stomach, until I found Wink Frozen Desserts.
Ten pints later, and my intestines couldn't be anymore overjoyed!
Wink works for EVERYONE!
And comes in FIVE flavors: Cake Batter, Cinnamon Bun, Iced Latte, Cocoa Dough, & Choco mint
Free of the top eight allergens, Wink is an AWESOME frozen dessert alternative for those looking to finally find their frozen fix they've been missing for so long! The ingredient list is a unique plant-based combination, that you can feel good about eating. No fillers, just natural, non-GMO ingredients that have created the "100 Calorie Pint" that Wink also is referred to as. Not to mention, Wink was started in a dorm room by the founder Gabe's own ice cream dreams after a Celiac Diagnosis.
"Less is more" is clearly true for this brand.
As a frozen dessert or ice cream alternative, Wink exceeded my expectations of deliciousness.
ALL five flavors were spot on to their name. The consistency of Wink was a light and airy creaminess, that truly tasted like whatever was on the label. SO, what was my favorite?
I was won over in the first spoonful. As a Celiac, it is VERY difficult to find Cake Batter flavored things that are gluten free, and when I do, they usually taste disgusting, so I was beyond ecstatic when I first tasted this flavor, it was almost as good as Carvel's Cake Batter, which I may or may not have had a mild addiction to.
A close runner up for my top choice was
Cinnamon Bun: made with organic cinnamon, I could literally see the flecks of cinnamon in every single spoonful, that is if I slowed down enough while eating it to actually LOOK at it. Just like a cinnamon bun left in the fridge to chill overnight, this flavor was so good, I couldn't get it in my mouth fast enough!
Coffee Lovers Rejoice! Iced Latte is on point with how much it tastes like the real deal! Generally I don't like things that are coffee/latte flavored, but I found myself sneaking spoonfuls out of this pint every time I walked by the kitchen. Goodbye Starbucks, Hello Wink!
And on to the final two pints:
I HATE anything mint chocolate flavored, I feel that chocolate is so delicious in and of itself that the addition of mint just ruins it, yet I somehow devoured an entire pint of the Choco-mint in one sitting. One of those, "just one more taste to see if I like it moments." The real cocoa makes the first taste a strong chocolate flavor, followed by a 'just brushed your teeth' mint. I swear I had fresher breather after eating this... and I'd rather eat ice cream than brush my teeth any day!
I'm a big texture person, so Cocoa Dough was my least favorite, due to its consistency. This flavor had the ACTUAL consistency of cookie dough, making it a grainier base than all the other flavors. It tasted like chocolate cookie dough, minus the chunks, so if you're a fan of cookie dough, than this flavor is for you!
So it passed the taste bud test with flying colors, but how did Wink fare with my irate intestines?
WONDERFULLY!
When I really really like something, I have a very hard time with portion control. Due to my Severe IBS, watching my portions, especially when it comes to treats is extremely important for me in order to keep my irate intestines in a more tolerable mood. With Wink, I don't have to worry! Whether I have two spoonfuls or the entire pint, Wink has caused me no intestinal issues! I can spoon away and not feel sick or sorry the next day! And it is my hopes that it is the same for you!
