FOR MY FELLOW CELIAC/GLUTEN INTOLERANT/GLUTEN ALLERGY FRIENDS - PLEASE READ THIS:
- Teriyaki Sauce is not gluten free unless labeled as such due to the fact that Teriyaki Sauce is made with Soy Sauce, which is also not gluten free
SO
- Buy a certified and labeled gluten free teriyaki sauce
- Wegmans carries a GF Teriyaki Sauce that I love (for those who have this store locally)
- Kikkoman brand
- San J bran
- I am sure there are others out there but I personally have heard good things about Kikkoman and San J
OR
- create your own teriyaki sauce using a gluten free soy sauce such as Kikkoman, San J, or La Choy
BACK TO THE RECIPE, I just wanted to put that information out there, since I want all of you to safely enjoy my recipe ideas!
Teriyaki Salmon
2 pieces of Salmon filet defrosted
(forgot to defrost? No worries, run salmon under cold water for 30 minutes to fix this)
1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
1/2 Tbsp. Minced Garlic (I used the jar kind remember!)
Teriyaki Sauce - the amount truly depends on you!
(A little bit goes a long way, I probably use less 1/8 of a cup if I had to measure)
Salt and Pepper to taste
TO SAUTE
1. Put olive oil in pan
2. Salt and Pepper each salmon
3. In the pan, put garlic and half of the amount of teriyaki sauce you plan on using
4. Add the salmon
5. Pour the rest of the teriyaki sauce on top
6. Cook on medium heat on one side for 7 minutes, flip over to the other side
7. If you like your salmon crispy, flake the salmon into pieces while cooking and let cook 7-10 minutes
If you like your salmon in one whole piece, cook for 7 minutes and test to see if it's done, if it flakes apart easily with clear juice, you're good to go
TO BROIL
1. Use a broiling pan or baking dish, line with aluminum foil
2. Rub olive oil on salmon
3. Salt and Pepper each salmon
4. Rub garlic and teriyaki on both sides of salmon
5. Set oven to broil (make sure your oven rack is closest to the top!)
6. Cook for 10-15 minutes depending how "done" and crispy you like your salmon
Serve this with quinoa or brown rice OR "fried" quinoa and vegetable of your choice, I always prefer green beans!
