The other C word, Cellulite. Those dimples that are enough to make you want to wear pants forever and never show off your skin in a pair of shorts...but why? Majority of females have cellulite! I HAVE CELLULITE, that's right, at a size two/four and considering myself pretty in shape, I have cellulite, SO WHAT! It lurks on the back of my legs, hanging out on my upper thighs, and for years I felt self-concious about it. I would dread the transition of switching from pants to shorts for the summer time, wishing I could just cover that area up. But then I realized something, I wasn't the only one with these dimples, plenty of girls of all different shapes and sizes had them too!
Cellulite has nothing to do with not being "fit" enough or a certain weight or size, cellulite has to do with the structure of our skin. I found this article which is written from a kick ass female athlete's perspective on how she has cellulite AND a six pack! Society tells us that in order to be beautiful we must be flawless, but that's not realistic. No one is flawless, celebrities just appear that way due to air brushing and good lighting. Do not buy the creams that promise to "eliminate the visibility of your cellulite" or promise to "firm up" your thighs, I am telling you the truth, they will not work and you do not need them!
I am not perfect, my legs have cellulite on them and I don't care. My legs are strong, but more importantly, they are healthy and can carry my body weight. I am grateful for the two legs that I have and that I can walk. Today I want you to look in the mirror and say to yourself, "I have cellulite, so what!" The "so what" mentality is so liberating! I no longer feel self conscious about these spots. Do I look in the mirror and love them? No, BUT I don't look in the mirror and hate them either. I am apathetic to my cellulite's existence, it's their, but I don't care!
