I am ALWAYS a proponent of treating yourself, and listening to your body's cravings, so I originally balked at the idea of a "Meal Ender." Except, sometimes my brain wants much more than my body does, or can even handle. This is ESPECIALLY the case when I am at a social gathering and there are copious amounts of food I cannot eat (breads, cookies, cakes, cheeses, pasta, etc.) and very minimal amounts of what I can have, such as carrots, cucumbers or tortilla chips. Although I am satisfied physically, mentally, I feel deprived in situations such as this and will overeat to the extreme the items I can have. I don't know why I do it, but I do...and this usually leaves me in pain, uncomfortable and forces me to take extra medication to alleviate the self induced Irritable Bowel Flare I created for myself.
SO my "nose up" attitude changed when I realized that I could use Meal Enders not to deprive myself of dessert, BUT, rather prevent myself from bingeing. The goal was to always have my dessert or to eat my pre-packed meal at a social gathering and then enjoy a Meal Ender to prevent myself from angrily over-eating in response to a feast of foods I couldn't have. While this isn't the typical use for the product, (designed as a weight-management product to curb over-eating and teach portion control) I always say, do what's best for YOUR body, and for me, it's having my dessert and THEN a Meal Ender. I can see ALL types of people, with various health and fitness goals benefitting from a product like this, especially with the holidays around the corner.
SO I'm happy to say that Meal Enders are:
- Gluten Free
- Contain NO Drugs, NO Added Stimulants, NO Artificial Sweeteners, and NO Herbs
- Low Sodium
- Only 15 calories and 2 grams of Sugar
AND they come in four fabulous flavors:
Chocolate Mint - like a better version of Andes Candies
Cinnamon - a creamy vanilla cinnamon that melts away to a mild "red hot" flavor
Citrus - key lime pie coating
Mocha - coffee lovers rejoice! coffee and chocolate = double win
There's a flavor for everyone, but my favorite is the chocolate mint!
PLUS, they are small enough to keep a stash in your purse, bag, work desk, or even your coat pocket!
How Meal Enders Work
Simply put, there is a sweet, creamy outer layer - the "dessert" that satisfies your craving, followed by a cool/tingly inner layer lozenge that tells your brain, NO MORE.
The Science Behind Meal Enders - for those of you who need the proof to be in the pudding, or in this case, lozenger.
According to Meal Ender's website: the outer layer is a measure dose of "dessert" while the inner layer engages the "trigeminal nerve (the nerve that senses “taste”) with long-lasting cooling/tingling sensations that cleanse" your palate. Sucking on a Meal Ender when you know that you've eaten enough, but can't seem to stop wanting more (me, majority of the time at a party), keeps your mind and mouth occupied, during the "20 minute Overeating Zone" and allows your body's "natural satiety process time to catch up"
That's a bunch of scientific jargon, but BELIEVE ME, THEY WORK, I'VE USED THEM!
